Welcome to GBC Courses .... and More!!!

Remodeling - Click here to see assorted pictures of mine and Heathers remodeling adventure. Still living in a construction zone.

This site is dedicated to Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Challenge. We have a great community of cyber golfers that meet and play on line at Gamespy.

Whether you have a copy of the game or not, if you are interested in playing this game, please feel free to contact me. This is a tremendous game with very life-like graphics and probably our most important aspect of the game is the Course Designer built into the game that allows anybody to create a course. As you can see in these pages, there are over 1200 courses listed here and that is not all of them. Unlike other golf games, our courses are a FREE DOWNLOAD. We play for the love and fun of the game. We do have a couple of leagues online, the "Nationwide Tour" and "World Tour". There are also some offline tours. We play weekly events just like the PGA. Come check us out. Click on the main link below to read the rules and sign up if you like. All are welcome to our community.

Here is the main link to both tours

You all will notice a difference in the size of some of the animations when you click on the course pictures. Warren spent a lot of time creating all of the animations for these courses and he used a different size than I am using.

Latest Releases

Sonora CC

Designer Name: Download Course
Size:
Released:
Course Description: Sonora Country Club is a regulation par 72 layout that measures 7,111 yards from the black tees. Dirk received the original files from World Tour President Kevin Farnworth. We then decided upon a theme and began working on the textures and elevation. While one was occupied with one task the other would be creating custom objects. Over 90 new objects were made including trees, shrubs, rocks, old west buildings, and animals. In any real desert significant thermal variations occur between valley and hills so we suggest you play with medium winds. Thank you for downloading Sonora Country Club and we hope you enjoy your round.

Randleman Lake Spring

Designer Name: Download Course
Size:
Released:
Course Description: This is my first fantasy course released in May 2007. I redone just about the whole thing. The greens have been flattened out some to make them a lot more fairer. There's more water added with a touch of Spring added also. I used parts and pieces from the Augusta uncompiled course. It turned out to be a good looking with lots of color. Try all the pin placements. Some are very easy, but dont be fooled. This course is still a monster. It will still eat you up and spit you out. HAVE FUN!! Please send comments to: hwystar@asheboro.com

Wausatch Park 2008

Released:
Course Description: Wausatch Park Golf Club (©1998 by Steve Opfer) is a fictional parkland course originally designed for JNSE.  It was one of Steve's first public releases and features a wide variety of hole distances and dogleg angles that should require different shot-making strategies throughout your round. Your comments on the course are encouraged.  Send them via e-mail to opfer@cox.net. This course had been converted without changes to GBC and was updated in 2008 by Steve Schreiber.

Granite Creek

Designer Name: Download Course

Released:
Course Description:

In Montana on clear, relatively windless nights, cold air from surrounding lands flows downhill under the influence of gravity. For this reason, the bottoms of valleys and basins tend to be cold-air lakes at night. Hillsides, several hundred feet above the basin or valley floor, are usually well drained of cold air and tend to be warm, thermal belts. Lakeside locations also tend to have a local climate more moderates than valley bottoms. Thus it is at Granite Lakes Golf Club. The first fall freeze generally occurs between the first and last of September; that’s why you see snow capped mountaintops from Granite Creek.   As described on the course info page, Steve Holden developed Granite Creek in the year 2000.  The hardy folks who still enjoy the GBC golf hobby are now first-rate golfers, so the course has been reworked and modified to present more challenges. The double green on hole number 7 is the ingenious concept of Steve’s. (The second green holds pins 2 and 4).   Par for the course has been changed to 71.  Enjoy.

I have always enjoyed working with the Nicklaus Designer, but I don't have the ability or the confidence to start a course from stratch. That's why I am very grateful to Tony and the designers who graciously make their uncompiled files available for us to work with.Hidden Valley Country Club began as a course called Willow Park by  Lou Call.   I have changed quite a few details on the course but the basic layout remains.  I thank Carl Stansbury and Ed Tarkowski for their input and suggestions, plus again a thank you to Tony for finding a place for these courses.

Hagstooth
